
After making its first ‘pedestrian island’ on Sector 44 traffic signal, GMDA has selected four more locations for the project — Ambedkar Chowk, Kanhai Chowk, Sector 70/75 intersection and the Netaji Subhash Marg crossing. A pedestrian island basically provides a safe gap for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road. Officials say going forward, these pedestrian islands will become a common feature at all junctions.
