Women empowerment key to economic growth too: President

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday said women empowerment was not just an issue of social justice but it was also crucial for economic development. Highlighting that the low participation of women in the workforce is a major hindrance in the overall development of the country, she said India, the fifth largest economy in the world, is now moving towards becoming a five trillion dollar economy and a more active role for women would be helpful in achieving this goal.
