Negating arguments asserting the autonomy and unresolved status of Jammu and Kashmir, the SC on Thursday said no vestige of sovereignty rested with J&K and its integration with India is absolute after the October 1947 signing of Instrument of Accession by the Maharaja of Kashmir. A bench led by CJI Chandrachud said, “There is no conditional surrender of sovereignty by the Maharaja... Sovereignty was ceded completely to India by J&K, there is absolutely no doubt about it.
